Yesterday, i took myself to Rhyl, a small seaside town in North Wales, looking to take some shots of boarded up fairground rides, closed candy floss stalls and sleeping rides awaiting finer weather.
I got the shots i wanted. Fading signs, locked up ticket booths, empty arcades and ghostly ghost trains. And then i went into the town itself.
It is three weeks before Christmas, one week before a general election in this country and the town was empty. Save for a few people browsing the plentiful charity shops and young girls with prams, there wasn’t a lot going on. And i guess, in response to my headline question, that is the answer.
I have been a professional photographer for over 30 years. My work has taken me all over the world, now in retirement, i am shooting for myself and sharing my work with you all. I suffer from health anxiety and find that my photography is a great source of healing. Some of my posts may veer off the path slightly but basically this is my life journey using photography to tell the story. Thank you for reading and if you would like to follow me you would be most welcome.
